Abstract
RAMIREZ-ROA, Angélica and CERROS-TLATILPA, Rosa. First report of Achimenes candida (Gesneriaceae: Gloxiniinae) for the state of Morelos, Mexico. Rev. Mex. Biodiv. [online]. 2018, vol.89, n.2, pp.351-355. ISSN 2007-8706. https://doi.org/10.22201/ib.20078706e.2018.2.2241.
We report a new locality of Achimenes candida, a species previously registered in Pinus-Quercus forests in Central America and the states of Chiapas and Oaxaca, Mexico. The new record is based on specimens collected during 2016 in a Quercus forest in the cliff of manantial El Tepeite Cuernavaca municipality of Morelos. The incomplete annular nectary and the arrangement of corolla dots, characteristic of the species, can be observed in the new collections. With this finding, the distributional area of A. candida is extended to the northern region of the state of Morelos. Presently, no continuity with its southern localities can be demonstrated. Eight species of Achimenes are recorded for Morelos, making it one of the Mexican states with the highest number of taxa of the genus.
