Abstract

ROSAS, Carlos  and  BRAILOVSKY, Harry. Revision of the genus Largus (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Largidae) from Mexico. Rev. Mex. Biodiv. [online]. 2016, vol.87, n.2, pp.347-375. ISSN 2007-8706.  https://doi.org/10.1016/j.rmb.2016.05.001.

The genus Largus Hahn (Largidae) is revised from Mexico, recognizing 8 valid species: Largus bipustulatus Stål, L. cinctus Herrich-Schaeffer, L. convivus Stål, L. longulus Stål, L. maculatus Schmidt, L. maculiventris Schmidt, L. sculptilis Bliven, and L. subligatus Distant. Largus brunki Schmidt is sinonimized under L. subligatus. The presence of L. varians Stål is questioned, because it might have been confused with L. cinctus, which has a broad distribution throughout the Mexican Republic. Largus convivus, L. longulus, L. sculptilis, L. semipletus Bliven, and L. semipunctatus Halstead are restated as valid species. New distributional records, including a set of maps, are presented for the 8 known species in Mexico; the genus is represented in 29 of 32 states of the country, without records in Colima, Tabasco and Zacatecas. Pictures of habitus, claspers and spermatheca are provided. An identification key to the species is presented.
