Abstract

ARANDA, Marcelo  and  VALENZUELA-GALVAN, David. A noteworthy record of margay (Leopardus wiedii) in the cloud forest of Morelos, Mexico. Rev. Mex. Biodiv. [online]. 2015, vol.86, n.4, pp.1110-1112. ISSN 2007-8706.  https://doi.org/10.1016/j.rmb.2015.09.015.

In June2014, we confirmed the presence of margay (Leopardus wiedii) in fraction I of the Área de Protección de Flora y Fauna Corredor Biológico Chichinautzin, Morelos, Mexico. Our record is based in 4 video clips taken by an automatic camera located at 2,750 m of altitude, with cloud forest. This record is the second confirmed evidence of the presence of margay populations in the state of Morelos, and it is the first record of the species for the Corredor Biológico Chichinautzin, expanding the distribution range of margay into Central Mexico by nearly 60 km to the north-northwest of the site where it was first recorded for Morelos, at the Sierra de Huautla Biosphere Reserve.
