Abstract
VAN DER HEIDEN, Albert M. and PLASCENCIA GONZALEZ, Héctor G.. About the presence of the family Heterenchelyidae, mud eels, in the Pacific coast of Mexico. Rev. Mex. Biodiv. [online]. 2006, vol.77, n.1, pp.129-132. ISSN 2007-8706.
Three mud eel specimens obtained from the central coast of Sinaloa, Mexico, were identified as Pythonichthys asodes and compared with type material. Its previously known northern distribution limit was extended by 11 latitude degrees (ca. 2700 km of coastline), from El Salvador to the entrance of the Gulf of California. The individuals examined are the only mud eel specimens known from Mexico.
