Abstract
PIROUZMAND, Mahtab; GHAREHBABA, Adel Mahmoudi and GHASEMI, Zarrin. Synthesis of Xanthene Derivatives using Template-containing Zn/MCM-41 as a Green and Reusable Catalyst; Effect of the Template. J. Mex. Chem. Soc [online]. 2016, vol.60, n.4, pp.183-187. ISSN 1870-249X.
Two approaches for metal ion incorporation were employed to introduce Zn into MCM-41; Direct Synthesis (DS) and Wet Impregnation (WI). The ionic template was removed by two different methods: calcination and solvent extraction. For comparison, a series of template-containing mesoporous Zn/MCM-41 was also synthesized without surfactant removal. The catalysts were examined in a three component reaction to afford benzoxanthene derivative. The templae-containing Zn/MCM-41 showed particularly the highest activity. This activity is due to both Lewis acid sites and the ionic template. This catalyst could be reused without loss of its catalytic activity because the organic template does not leach during the reaction. It is also very efficient for the synthesis of a hydroxanthene derivative.
