The gramscian concept of hegemony is one of the most important categories for socio-political and critical analysis. In this context, Laclau's political theory of discourse has made a novel use, re-articulating to post-structuralist conception, in post-foundational key. However, it has not operationalized this nodal category for the development of political discourse analysis as a rigorous, useful and valid method of social science research. This paper elaborates an original proposal address this problem by providing tools for the application of the concept of hegemony in empirical analysis.
