Abstract

HERNANDEZ CASTELLANOS, Donovan. Collective postcolonial political experience. Polis [online]. 2014, vol.10, n.1, pp.39-74. ISSN 2594-0686.

This paper has three parts. It argues that is necessary to make an immanent critic of postcolonial experience from it's political devices. The first part is a genealogical approach to the transnational culture of memory and mourning practices. The second part is a study about the colonial artifacts that performs an idea of the nation in itself. Finally, the third part is the discursive analysis of the contemporary museum in the political situation of postcolonialism in Africa. South Africa is the example elected. The paper proposes a performative theory of the nation as narrative.

Keywords : politics of experience; collective mourning; nation; narrative; performative.
