Abstract

This article analyzes the presence of minority parties in the political system of Jalisco. The objective is not just evaluate the way of participation and operation of the Partido del Trabajo, Partido Verde Ecologista de México, Movimiento Ciudadano and Nueva Alianza within the local political system, but to notice that its recent political incidence is significant, after the change from a one party system. In short, this document analyzes its function in the local political system. This article analyzes the electoral outcome between 1980 and 2012, and how this translates in seats at the local Congress, Jalisco's local governments, public financing and organizational structure.
