Abstract

RENIU VILAMALA, Josep Ma.. The failed paradigm of electoral neutrality: The case of Mexico in a comparative perspective. Rev. IUS [online]. 2012, vol.6, n.30, pp.49-66. ISSN 1870-2147.

Current regulation of a corporate campaign should be amended. An alternative would undertake its removal. The justification for that measure would be explained by the consolidation of democracy and political maturity of the citizens. Another would be its modification if the public expenditure were reduced by and avoiding permanent conflicts that naturally arise from the electoral period. Seeking to maintain the regulation within the actual boundaries for it can be considered that certain aspects of the institutional campaigns closely related to the knowledge and memory of the voting mechanism are still necessary for the consolidation of democracy in electoral processes.

Keywords : Elections; unauthentic elections; Mexico; Spain; the Mexican electoral system; electoral reform; democracy; electoral neutrality; political propaganda; electoral law.
