Abstract

The aim of this study was to compare the marginal leakage of three commercially available products when used as temporary restorations after pulpotomy in human primary molars. An in vitro study was carried out; 51 primary molars were divided into 3 groups of 17 molars; all teeth received pulpotomy treatment, after which the temporary material was placed in the pulp chamber space: A. Glass ionomer cement. B. CAVIT. C. IRM. We evaluated the marginal leakage by polarized light microscope. Results showed that there was a statistically significant difference among groups (p < 0.05); glass ionomer cement showed significantly more leakage than other materials; indicating that there are microleakage causing failure of the treatment. CAVIT and IRM were similar in their sealing properties.
