Abstract

GARCIA PENA, Lilia Leticia. The stories of the disaster: Anticipations of the rhetoric of Postmodernism in the poetry of Rosario Castellanos. Culturales [online]. 2015, vol.3, n.1, pp.107-136. ISSN 2448-539X.

The poetry of Rosario Castellanos shows the contradictions and deficiencies of the Western modernity project and the cultural consequences that she could no longer prove, unlike other intellectuals of his generation, but notes with a fine perception. In these pages we will see that in her poetry, Rosario Castellanos shares, anticipates, contradicts and expands the critical discourse of modernity that the great thinkers have built. To do this I will analyze the metaphorical networks shown in her poetry about the modernity crisis and the emergence of a different cultural sensitivity, considering counterpoint to the central metaphors of what I call "the rhetoric of postmodernism", that elaborated in the work of Western intellectuals from Arthur Schopenhauer to Anthony Giddens.

Keywords : Rosario Castellanos; poetry; rhetoric of posmodernity.
