Abstract

We achieved a research with purpose to evaluate oral hypoglucemiants utilization in patients with non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus users of a family medical unit of social security from Comalcalco, Mexico, during 2013. We made a drug utilization study in a universe of N=1,428 files and we toke a random sample of n=203 aleatorily selected. We systematized information of therapeutic scheme information and we evaluated drug prescriptions quality comparing against current national clinical guidelines and classified in adequate/inadequate. Prescriptionswere inadequate in 94 %. "Inadequate drug" was the most frequent error (70.2 %). Oral hypoglucemiants quality was inadequate in higher proportion that reported in national and foreigner literature. Measures are required for to correct the problem.
