SOSA HERRERA, Karla Gabriela; TORRES ROMERO, Julio César; GUERRERO ESCOBEDO, Hilda and RAMIREZ-CAMACHO, Mario Alberto. Impact of a pharmaceutical care program on metabolic control in type 2 diabetics of rural population from Yucatán, México. Rev. mex. cienc. farm [online]. 2014, vol.45, n.3, pp.74-80. ISSN 1870-0195.
A pharmaceutical care program (PCP) was developed by services concerning pharmacotherapy follow-up (PF) and sanitary education (SE). This work evaluated the impact of the PCP on the metabolic control of diabetic patients in rural population in the Mexican state of Yucatán. The so-called Dáder methodology was applied for PF and the SE was devised in group modality, with the involvement of 41 diabetics patients. At the end of PCP statistically significant improvement was observed in the intervention group compared to the levels of fasting glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin, total cholesterol, LDL and HDL, the PF and the SE increased the pharmacological adherence in a 19.52 % and reduced medication negative results. The implementation of PCP resulted in better outcomes of metabolic control in T2D patients in the rural population.
