Abstract

ALMANZA AVENDANO, Ariagor Manuel  and  GOMEZ SAN LUIS, Anel Hortensia. An approach to clients of prostitution in Mexico. Andamios [online]. 2021, vol.18, n.45, pp.435-455.  Epub Sep 27, 2021. ISSN 2594-1917.  https://doi.org/10.29092/uacm.v18i45.825.

The present study makes a literature search of clients for prostitution in Mexico, first in socio-demographic terms; later, in the field of subjectivity, through their motivations to attend prostitution, considering the typologies developed by various authors. Subsequently, the approximation is performed by a historical tour of prostitution in Mexico, through which it is possible to track client engagement and relationship with the State. Finally, a reflection on client engagement in prostitution takes place, at a time marked by the expansion of trafficking for commercial sexual exploitation.

Keywords : Clients; prostitution; trafficking; sexual exploitation; masculinities.
