Abstract

This essay interprets and discusses pragmatism, melancholy and irrationality as three adaptive forms of the left to social change and the declared ideological triumph of liberal democracy. How to remain left-wing in an era of great political and cultural transformations under a neoliberal economic model? This is the question that the essay asks. The dilemmas of the left in the face of this challenge increase the problems of democratic representation.
