This research analyzes the effects of location and neighborhood characteristics on the probability of a business undertaken by a woman being robbed in one of the most important metropolises in Mexico: the Monterrey's metropolitan area. The method used consisted on a spatial distribution analysis and a discrete binary choice model. The data for this purpose were compiled from the reports of the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Nuevo Leon for the year 2016. Among the main results, it was found that women suffer fewer robberies than men due to the characteristics of the neighborhood and, to a lesser extent, to its location -particularly in the municipalities of Monterrey, Santa Catarina, Guadalupe, and Apodaca.
