Abstract

ROBLES, Ruth; FOLADORI, Guillermo  and  ZAYAGO LAU, Édgar. Industry 4.0 in Mexican mining. Revista Col. San Luis [online]. 2020, vol.10, n.21, 00003.  Epub Mar 14, 2022. ISSN 2007-8846.  https://doi.org/10.21696/rcsl102120201167.

The article reviews the latest technological advances in Mexican mining and its socio-economic and environmental implications. The large mining companies have automated some activities, the trend now is the placement of telecommunications services in all areas to digitize, integrate, automate and control the entire mining process. These advances show a constant investment in equipment, a strong process of concentration and centralization of capital, a tendency to reduce employment and a relegation in the improvement of working and environmental conditions.

Keywords : mining; hydrometallurgy; Mexico; Industry 4.0; control and automation.
