Abstract

MIRABAL GOMEZ, Rosario  and  KOH, Oonee. Scientific education and traditional medicine. A comparison between Mexico and South Korea. Revista Col. San Luis [online]. 2019, vol.9, n.19, pp.39-59.  Epub Nov 19, 2020. ISSN 2007-8846.  https://doi.org/10.21696/rcsl9192019916.

In this article a comparison is made between medical science and the ancient medical knowledge systems of two countries with different cultural backgrounds. To this end, the official curricula and current science textbooks of both countries were reviewed. Based on this review, it is established that traditional medicine is present at the basic level of education in Mexico and at the higher level in Korea. Therefore, both countries include national culture in science education, albeit in different ways.

Keywords : science education; science curriculum; science textbooks; traditional medicine.
