Abstract

CORONA JIMENEZ, Miguel Ángel. La economía de Tlapanalá. Migr. Inter [online]. 2007, vol.4, n.2, pp.93-120. ISSN 2594-0279.

Using the social accountability matrix and regional development methodology, this research presents the results of the economic structure, dynamics and impact of remittances in Tlapanalá. The approach used ranges from macroeconomics and its variables to the microeconomic.level, at which household economies and the labor market of this community are analyzed. This process also compares the role of households that receive remittances with those that do not. The main conclusion is that this economy is highly dependent on the economy of other cities. The productive sector is not integrated, productive activity is limited and households that receive remittances have begun to play an increasingly important role in the economy of the locality. Finally, this diagnosis can be used to create and implement appropriate public policies that promote the development of the local economy in this community.

Keywords : Tlapanalá; Puebla; economic impact; social accountability matrix; regional development; remittances.
