Abstract

ORTEGA REYNA, Jaime. Orbits of a thought: Lenin and marxism in Latin America. Latinoamérica [online]. 2017, n.65, pp.227-255. ISSN 2448-6914.  https://doi.org/10.22201/cialc.24486914e.2017.65.56880.

The objective of the article is to study different perspectives of the appropriation of the writings of Lenin in Latin American social theory. A shared feature of these trajectories was that the key figure of the Russian Revolution ceased to be only a historical icon to become a motif that encouraged theoretical production. Thus, the text shows different moments in the process of appropriation of Lenin’s legacy, that include: a reiteration of the classical version of theories on imperialism, an anticolonial reading after the Cuban revolution, and eventually, a quest to find in this writings an answer to the “crisis of Marxism”. As a result, the main references of the discussion are presented, along with the integration of a corpus of works and authors representative of a generally forgotten part of the history of Latin American Marxism.

Keywords : Lenin; Latin American Marxism; Critical theory.
