Abstract

GALLEGOS, Claudio. Methodological approach of the printing press: the weekly Cuba Libre. Latinoamérica [online]. 2011, n.53, pp.105-131. ISSN 2448-6914.

This work tries to introduce a specific methodological approach to work on written nineteenth century press. For that purpose, our test case wil be built on the events that took place in Cuba around 1898, a key date not just for cuban history but for al Latin American one. The selected newspaper is caled Cuba Libre (Free Cuba), was edited in Buenos Aires. We wil attempt to perform an external critic of the newspaper and to reveal the underlying logic of its analysis, as long as the set of practices that were used to construct methodological and systemathical knowledge. From this point, we propose a diferent, alternate or even opposite use of the categories and concepts used in liberal hegemonic historiography. The construction and reconstruction of those concepts will allow us to rethink history counterhegemonicaly, in the search for new directions of analysis.
