Abstract

Abolition of slavery in Brazil was enacted in a period when racial theories were at vogue. It had an important consecuences within brazilian elites. Nevertheless, free Africans and afrobrazilians showed that, inspite of the prejudices, the speeches that were denying the segregations of the blacks and even the existing differences inside the black community, there manage to found organization such as "prensa negra" and "Frente Negra Brasileña" that faced discrimination and exhibited the racialism strongly established inside the Brazilian society.
