This article deals with the analysis of the relationship established between scientific discourse and literary account. It has been carried out from a diary of an expedition written in 1806 by Luis de la Cruz, a Chilean politician, who recorded the events occured during his journey from Chile to Buenos Aires. The aim of this paper is to study how the epistemologic transgression of a scientific testimony is activated by the insertion of elements which are particular to literary narrative.
