Abstract

FILGUEIRAS-NODAR, José María. Oaxaca's Cultural Diversity in the Light of Environmental Ethics. LiminaR [online]. 2016, vol.14, n.1, pp.144-155. ISSN 2007-8900.

This article attempts to relate some aspects of the world views of different native peoples of Oaxaca State (Mexico) with certain interests of contemporary environmental ethics, from the perspectives of environmental pragmatism and comparative environmental ethics. It will demonstrate that two elements displayed in the worldviews of several Oaxacan ethnicities are relevant for environmental ethics, these being the existence of deities linked to environmental protection and ideas about the place that human beings occupy in the world.

Keywords : cosmovision of original peoples; natural environment; environmental ethics.
