Abstract

TEJEDA DEL CUETO, María Elena et al. Alineamiento de flama usando placas perforadas Tándem en una cámara de combustión de Gas LP. Ingenier. mecáni. tecnolog. desarroll [online]. 2015, vol.5, n.2, pp.293-302. ISSN 1665-7381.

This paper presents the optimization of air injection for combustion behavior and stability of the flame in a burner installed in a combustion chamber of gas LP by an innovation of install tandem perforated plates. The result compares parameters of field velocity, flame symmetry and field temperature for a single perforated plate and for tandem perforated plates. The optimal design of the tandem arrangement is obtained based on results of numerical simulation analysis using the commercial software ANSYS-Fluent. The numerical simulation result achieved in optimization process of the design shows that the perforated tandem plates produce a good air flow recirculation for the combustion process. To verify this improvement, the tandem perforated plates were manufactured and installed in the burner of the combustion chamber. The experimental tests compare the flame behavior in both arrangements based on the flame temperature values recorded by the suction pyrometer. The tandem perforated plates produces a better stability, symmetry and centralization of the flame; the maximum flame temperature remains for both arrangements. The tandem perforated plates requires 14.6% less fuel than the single plate. The NOx emissions are expresed in ppm units for both cases.
