Abstract

RODRIGUEZ, Norma Alejandra; HINOJOSA, Jesús Fernando  and  PERFECTO XAMAN, Jesús. Estudio numérico de la convección mixta en una cavidad alargada con ventilación. Ingenier. mecáni. tecnolog. desarroll [online]. 2009, vol.3, n.3, pp.105-114. ISSN 1665-7381.

In this work the mixed convection numerical results in a rectangular ventilated cavity are presented. The flow regime is assumed turbulent. The numerical results were obtained in cavity with an aspect ratio equal to 20. On the left vertical wall three different uniform heat fluxes are applied (600, 800 and 1000 W/m2), whereas the right wall is maintained at constant temperature of 298 K. An air inlet with temperatures of: 298 K, 308 K and 318 K and velocities of: 0.1, 0.25 and 0.5 m/s was permitted. The effect of the Reynolds number and Grashof number on: flow pattern, temperature field and heat transfer was examined. It was observed that for a fixed inlet air temperature, the influence of the Reynolds number on the average Nusselt number is most important. The ratio of the heat received n the left wall and heat transferred on right wall when the incoming air temperature is 298 K, indicates that the ventilation extracts about 17% and 12 % of the heat received on the left wall, but when the incoming air temperature is 318 K the heat transferred by the right wall increases between 47 % and 210 %.

Keywords : Turbulent mixed convection; vented cavity.
