Maximilian and Charlotte’s charisma attempted to generate popular sympathies in the Second Mexican Empire. Monarchical propaganda was strengthened with the foundation of orders and imperial awards to distinguished citizen of merit or talents. Almost two hundred of medals and honorary appellations were distributed in Yucatan’s Imperial Commissariat from 1864 to 1867. The legitimation of imperial government and the ideal monarchical citizen are the main subject of the further exposition.
