Abstract

LOPEZ GONZALEZ, Georgina. Superior Courts of Justice during the Second Empire. Sig. his [online]. 2011, vol.13, n.26, pp.110-152. ISSN 1665-4420.

This article analyzes the way in which the courts organized under the Ley para la organización de los Tribunales y Juzgados del Imperio, of December 18, 1865, in conjunction with the Ley de división territorial del Imperio, the 3 march of that year, which divided the country into 50 departments. The aim is to understand, first, a part of the overall organization of the justice of the imperial government, and secondly, to observe in practice how this process occurred and whether it was possible to establish and implement the 20 superior courts home raised.

Keywords : Second Empire; justice; high courts; territorial division; legislation.
