Abstract

MIRANDA OJEDA, Pedro. Una aproximación a la elite y a las fiestas de familia en la ciudad de Mérida, segunda mitad del siglo XIX. Sig. his [online]. 2007, vol.9, n.18, pp.36-57. ISSN 1665-4420.

During 19th century, family celebrations constituted spaces of social confirmation and social diferentiation. The different ways to carryout the celebrations persued an intention to reaffirm the preminence of those who got together there; therefore, the possibilities of social encounter between groups of different social status were almost inexistence because the sociability was restricted to a limited circle.

Keywords : celebrations; family; elite; moral; cotidianity.
