Abstract

LAVRIN, Asunción. La madre María Magdalena Lorravaquio y su mundo visionario. Sig. his [online]. 2005, vol.7, n.13, pp.22-41. ISSN 1665-4420.

In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, nun’s autoboigraphical and spiritual writings in New Spain resulted from their confessors’ orders to write about what they experienced in their life as religious. Today, they reveal us the inner world of professed women and the religious mentality of the period to us. The analysis of the writings of Sor María Magdalena Lorravaquio (Libro) allows us to gain an intimate knowledge of the writter as well as the characteristics of her little known work. Tipically, we see in it many of the characteristic of the baroque visionary mentality of New Spain’s professed women.

Keywords : monjas visionarias; escritura conventual; experiencias místicas; autobiografía espiritual; visiones del siglo XVI.
