Abstract

We investigated the effect of doping of Nb5+ in the B site of perovskite structure of BaTiO3 through the mechanism BaTi1-5xNb4xO3; with x=0.5, 4.0, 8.0, 20 and 25% Nb5+. The powders were prepared by the solid state route in PET containers with alumina ball mill for 3 hours, recovered by filtration and were carried a complete decarbonation at 1000 °C for 5 hours. Subsequently sintered at different temperatures up to 1500 °C. The sintered powders were uniaxially pressed to obtain pellets of approximately 10 mm in diameter; which were sintered at 1500 °C for 5 hours in air; characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and electrical measurements. The main objective is to estimate values of permittivity for possible application in capacitors.
