Abstract

CRUZ-DELGADO, V. J. et al. Nanocompuestos poliméricos semiconductores de PET/MWCNT: preparación y caracterización. Superf. vacío [online]. 2007, vol.20, n.2, pp.1-5. ISSN 1665-3521.

In this report we discuss the preparation and characterization of semi-conducting polymer nanocomposites of polyethylene terephthalate (PET), containing in weight 1% and 2% multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT), unmodified (MWCNT) and modified by means of ethylene glycol plasma (MWCNT-OH). We identified by infrared spectroscopy the presence of a functional group of hydroxide (-OH) connected to the surface of the nanotube by action of the plasma. By using scanning electronic microscopy, we observed and verified that the dispersion and adhesion to the polymers MWCNT and MWCNT-OH in the PET matrix was improved by superficial modification. We determined by means of differential scanning calorimeter that the increase in the temperature of crystallization in presence of MWCNT suggests its capacity to be used as a nucleation agent. The morphology developed during the non-isothermal crystallization of the nanocomposites was studied by means of Ozawa analysis. We observed a confined growth in 2 dimensions and, with the incorporation of MWCNT 2 %, the nanocomposite presents electrical conductivity of 2,48 x 10-4 (S/cm), similar to other semi-conducting materials.
