Abstract

RAMOS, Ana Beatriz  and  FONT, Vicenç. Suitability and assessment criteria of changes in the mathematics instruction process. Relime [online]. 2008, vol.11, n.2, pp.233-265. ISSN 2007-6819.

This investigation, within the framework of the ontosemiotic approach to mathematics cognition and instruction, has as its central objective the analysis of the role played by suitability criteria in teachers' arguments when they evaluate the introduction of institutional changes in the teaching process. In particular, it explores in depth the assessment of incorporating contextualized situations into the teaching and learning process of functions in the Introduction to Mathematics course given in the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences of the University of Carabobo, Venezuela.

Keywords : Suitability criteria; argumentation; institutional change; functions and context.
