Abstract

CARBO, Teresa. Steps and Small Stairways for Access to Small Constructions in the Towns of Ajusco (Mexico City): Morphology and Dreaming. Tóp. Sem [online]. 2007, n.17, pp.119-162. ISSN 2594-0619.

This text tests an approach of the researcher’s glance into the presence and modality of existence of the constructive characteristic typical of vernacular architecture prevalent in the area under study: the mountainous southwest of Mexico City. This is done starting with three photographs of contemporary instances of the phenomenon.

The purpose is a close understanding of the particular form of the presented examples, and an exploration of the lines of dreaming that is possible to weave around those instances lived as events or facts of the glance.

The experiment lets us see the very close imbrication of the significant processes with the network of the social (economic/material/symbolic) and the historical as testimony of human manufacture. Likewise it points out some of the possible lines of investigation.
