Abstract

PLA, Sebastián. Debates contemporáneos sobre la inequidad y la exclusión educativa en América Latina. Sinéctica [online]. 2015, n.44, pp.1-19. ISSN 2007-7033.

In this essay I make a qualitative summary of the main theoretical discussions focused on educational inequality and exclusion in Latin America. I note that the growth of research and policies of inclusion and equity are a contemporary phenomenon that arises as a result of economic changes, political and educational experienced in the region in the 1990s. Also pointed out the importance of taking two constituent aspects of the theoretical approaches to these issues: the first is that we can not understand the Latin American debate without considering the discussions in Europe and the United States, because many Latin American authors start from the reflection in these spaces. The second is that it is difficult to assert that there is a theoretical debate on educational inequality and exclusion in Latin America.

Keywords : educational exclusion; educational inequality; Latin America; educational research.
