Abstract

HERNANDEZ VAZQUEZ, Juan Manuel. Habitabilidad educativa de las escuelas: Marco de referencia para el diseño de indicadores. Sinéctica [online]. 2010, n.35, pp.1-14. ISSN 2007-7033.

This paper proposes the concept of Educative Habitability of School (HEE in Spanish) to help overcome the lack of a conceptual framework that supports reflection and development of indicators on the conditions under which educational services operate in countries with widespread poverty as Mexico. The HEE includes eight dimensions whose relevance is argued based on a review of international literature on the issues involved. The dimensions proposals include a) Availability of facilities and equipment at school; 2) Physical conditions of facilities and equipment; 3) Physical comfort in the classroom; 4) Educational space; 5) Sustainability of the school; 6) Health and safety school physical; 7) The accessibility of school; and 8) Availability of infrastructure and support services in the settlement area. A larger version of this work is available in http://www.inee.edu.mx, which proposes an instrument applicable to low secondary schools to collect information that has not been captured in applications from Ministry of Education or from National Institute for the Evaluation of Education.

Keywords : educative habitability; school infrastructure; physical learning environment.
