Abstract

CHAGUACEDA, Armando  and  GONZALEZ, Lázaro de Jesús. Community Participation and local governments in Cuba: The experience of the Popular Councils and the impact of Raul Castro's reforms. Espiral (Guadalaj.) [online]. 2015, vol.22, n.63, pp.125-152. ISSN 1665-0565.

This research study analyzes community participation in Cuba within a "Popular Council" on the outskirts of the capital. The work was developed at several stages, supported by a variety of qualitative research methods, and looking for the discourses and practices of actors. Finally, we discuss the impact of recent government reforms in municipal development and local participation.
