Abstract

GOMEZ NAREDO, Jorge. Resistance, musicians and the Guadalajara Cathedral Chapter in late 18th Century. Espiral (Guadalaj.) [online]. 2010, vol.17, n.49, pp.197-227. ISSN 1665-0565.

The article studies the musicians who played in the cabildo of the Guadalajara's cathedral. First analyzes what was the cabildo, how it worked, what functions had and to the members that integrated it. Later focuses in the musicians, the relations among them, the hierarchies that they established and how they entered like instrumentalist or singers to the cathedral. The most important part of the article treat analyzes the strategies of the musicians to obtain increases of grounds and to obtain better benefits. This is interpreted like the resistance that had the musicians towards the authorities of the cabildo.
