Abstract

RAMIREZ PEREZ, Jorge Ariel; MARTINEZ GONZALEZ, Carla  and  GARCIA MARTIGNON, Viridiana. Youth, Socialization and Religious Pluralism in Tepalcingo, Morelos. Desacatos [online]. 2015, n.49, pp.94-113. ISSN 2448-5144.

By analyzing interviews with 16 young people between age 16 and 28, the article seeks to understand how youth interactions occur in a space of high religious pluralism. We analyze how the interactions established by youth into family, church and school, are mediated by plausibility structures and networks of relationships. it is found that religious pluralism is seen as a threat in families, that churches socialize young people to integrate them into their religious community, but not control interfaith dating relationships. Finally, school interactions are mediated differently by plausibility structures.

Keywords : religious pluralism; youth; socialization; family; plausibility structures.
