Abstract

ORDIANO HERNANDEZ, Esteban. "Ethics for Anthropologists": Between Moral Postulates and Moral Symmetry. Desacatos [online]. 2013, n.41, pp.85-98. ISSN 2448-5144.

The present essay discusses the José Sánchez Jiménez's article entitled "Code and Conclave: The Ethical Codification of Anthropological Work" which purports to be a comparative treatment of the normative structure of two different codes of ethics for anthropological research and proposes a form of coding that incorporates the relation between axiology, responsability of the anthropologist and anthropological continuum. The task here is to present the difficulties of this proposal and opt for a symmetrical ethics which attaches moral importance to specific contexts and situations.

Keywords : applied ethics; situational ethics; principialism; casuistry; code of ethics.
