Abstract

REGUILLO, Rossana. About Violence: Calligraphy and Grammar of Horror. Desacatos [online]. 2012, n.40, pp.33-46. ISSN 2448-5144.

The violencias linked to the drug trade in Mexico have generated a border zone, an order open to constant definition, a space of contestation between regimes of interpretation and meaning production. These violencias constitute a "portal" or "vestibule" between an order that has collapsed and an emergent one, which has not yet fully come to be. Therein lies their enormous foundational power and simultaneous agility. Along these lines, the analytical strategy proposed has two anchors: the relationship of these violencias to youth and their sociocultural worlds, and the configuration of the grammars of violence, whose figures inundate public space and thus contribute to the expansion of fear.

Keywords : violence; horror; drug trafficking; language of violence; youth and violence.
