Abstract

MULLER, Fernanda. Children's Perspectives on Family: A Study About Social Groups in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Desacatos [online]. 2012, n.38, pp.121-138. ISSN 2448-5144.

This paper presents some results of an ethnographic study on nine families in the city of Porto Alegre, Brazil. Its main objective is to interpret the children's conceptualizations on their families through a combination of methods, such as photographs taken by the children, tape-recorded conversations, participant observation, and interviews with their relatives and close friends.The work explores themes related to the incorporation or exclusion of family members, hierarchical relationships within the family and the role of the home in routine.
