Abstract

FERNANDEZ, Fabiana A.  and  STIVAL, Matías A. Meanings, Policies and Social Vulnerability Associated with HIV/AIDS among Qom Migrant Peoples in Rosario, Argentina. Desacatos [online]. 2011, n.35, pp.29-40. ISSN 2448-5144.

This paper presents an anthropological approach to specific conditions of vulnerability regarding HIV/AIDS among qom (tobas) aboriginal populations in Rosario, Argentina. Our interpretation bears in mind both our personal experience in prevention projects within indigenous communities, managed by AIDS City program of Rosario (Santa Fe, Argentina), and the etnographical perspective used in our antropological research. The paper also analyzes how political mechanisms operate in the elaboration and management processes in development projects destined to migrant aboriginal communities. We thus propose to shed light upon the analysis of different actions associated with diverse health care issues.

Keywords : Qom peoples; social vulnerability; HIV/AIDS.
