Abstract

ESTRADA IGUINIZ, Margarita. Forced coexistence: Family experiences during the health emergency caused by the human influenza virus A (H1N1) in Mexico City. Desacatos [online]. 2010, n.32, pp.109-118. ISSN 2448-5144.

This article studies experiences of a group of families resident in Mexico City during the April 2009 health emergency, caused by the outbreak of influenza A (H1N1). From a systemic approach, it analyzes the way that the forced reclusion, to which population was subjected due to the official measures implemented by the city's government, contributed to strengthen previous family dynamics that favored the occurrence of tensions and conflicts among their members. Isolation also highlighted the resources held by each family to manage an exceptional situation, as was this sanitary emergency.

Keywords : influenza A (H1N1); family; conflict; resources; Mexico City.
