Abstract

TORRES BAUTISTA, Mariano E.. In Search of Lost Times. The State of Local Archives: The Case of Hidalgo. Desacatos [online]. 2008, n.26, pp.59-74. ISSN 2448-5144.

This paper presents an overview of the largest repositories of written history in the state of Hidalgo. It reports the author's findings and observations, gathered throughout archives in Pachuca and the rest of the state, which show the main flaws detected in the way most of these archives operate, particularly outside the state's capital, and the problems generated during their use. The author's diagnosis detects certain questions pertaining to the formation and existence of public archives, which require urgent attention because these elements place them in risk situations.

Keywords : Hidalgo; archives; contents; problems; use.
