The purpose of this research was to analyze the speeches of university students around the concept of romantic love in relationships, to identify the perception people have of women and men within the emotional bond and visualize the collective and individual imaginary shared with the prevailing hegemonic culture, a qualitative methodology court was used and was chosen by the technical group approach, in order to meet the multiplicity of perspectives, ideas, knowledge and beliefs of a group of people made up of four women and four men, respectively, with an age range between 25 and 30 years from different professional areas. The findings revealed that heteronormative continues playing a traditionalist ideology about the love of patriarchal origin, which refers to the culturally shared beliefs about the psychosocial characteristics considered prototypical and exclusive between men and women. Although the speeches also show an idyllic representation that transits from a conservative vision to a modern one that tries to distort the disguise of orthodox morality that over time has preserved and perpetuated in people the myth of romantic love.
