Abstract

The objective of this article is to analyze the operation and the type of social networks of women diagnosed with human papillomavirus (HPV), dysplasia and cervical cancer in situ have, differentiating the experience according to the diagnosis. This is a qualitative study in which there were 34 semistructured interviews with women in two clinics of dysplasia in Hermosillo, Sonora. We found that each diagnosis has different connotations in the individual perception as well as in the social group imaginary where they belong, which carry women to an experience loaded with uncertainty and anxiety. Based in this connotations, product of the gender inequalities, the participants design their own arrangements of support in order to resolve their need of medical attention and the organization of their family and domestic life.
