Abstract

CAMUS BERGARECHE, Manuela. Mujeres cotificadas: Etnografía en los fraccionamientos "catrines" de la Guadalajara metropolitana. La ventana [online]. 2011, vol.4, n.34, pp.191-234. ISSN 1405-9436.

In these pages I present ethnographic research on the life in the gated communities of middle-upper and upper class of metropolitan Guadalajara. These spaces represent new ways of inhabiting the city, and reflect changing social, labor, and cultural relations. Favoring the housewives' voices, this paper aims to describe how this spatial logic is given a meaning, which models of being a woman are brought into play, and which are the transformations and social experiences taking place in the background, which I identify as processes of neostamentalization.

Keywords : Women; gated communities; lifestyle; social change; distinction.
