Abstract

This article proposes an approach to the ways the body is represented by three different identities in the sexual diversity movement (LGBT) in Guadalajara. It focuses on body representation conceptions that exaggerate the "traditional" gender attributes of the body (male and female), like the "bears" and the drag queens, and a new body conception: the "dolphins". This approach is contextualized within the construction of the homosexual identity and its main symbolic referents, and the implications of "getting out of the closet" when this happens in the adolescence.
