Abstract

BARTRA, Eli. Rumiando en torno a lo escrito sobre mujeres y arte popular. La ventana [online]. 2008, vol.3, n.28, pp.7-23. ISSN 1405-9436.

This article reflects upon how folk art has been studied and highlights the need to relate this research to feminism, leading to a better understanding of both folk art and gender, especially for women. It is fundamental to consider the processes of creation, distribution and consumption of folk art as well as carrying out an iconographic analysis from a feminist and aesthetic point of view. The relationship between folk art and feminism has not always been especially harmonious.

Keywords : Folk art; women; gender; aesthetics; feminism.
